12/31/2023 0 Comments Strike witches shirley gifStrike Witches is easily the most overly mechanical show I've seen in a long time, and that is not a compliment. To which I have to say, "What the hell are you on about that is this anime's one redeeming factor?" I would recommend season 1 over season 2.īefore I dive into the review, I just want to quote and comment upon something said in the "most helpful" review for this anime, "Please don't say it is bad just because you find girls in panties horrifying". This was nothing more than mindless entertainment. The premise is decent and I genuinely enjoyed watching what little plot there was play out, but the art choices and lack of character development became pretty overwhelming. Some have decent backgrounds, some are just present.ĭespite all the negative things I had to say, I can't say I hated the show. All the other characters are a mixed bag. Suddenly she remembers again by the 12th. Miyafuji claims she doesn't want to fight due to moral reasons but gets amnesia by the third episode. Nothing spectacular about the sound, but nothing bad either.Ĭharacters are nothing more than fan-service. Even more baffling is that some do wear pants, so I guess it's a roll of the dice. The decision to not include pants is baffling, although I am laughing at the ridiculousness of this decision now, so maybe it was a comedic choice. of the characters performing a chore or some type of personal issue they must resolve.Īrt looks great. The show seems a bit more slice-of-life than I expected. You have the main character on a quest for a letter her dead dad sent her, but damned if I hear about it again after the first few episodes. Well over half the time, they claim there's a war on, but it never feels like it. It really doesn't shine in anyway, feels extremely simple and never circles back to properly address pretenses. The story line to strike witches is extremely easy to follow. They began their fight against the Neuroi, utilizing their now-enhanced magical abilities, flaunting destructive weapons no human could manage.įast forward to 1944-Yoshika Miyafuji is a young teenage girl who eventually decides to join the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, known as the "Strike Witches." With no formal training however, can Miyafuji learn to cooperate with her fellow Strike Witches? And if so, can she save humanity from the Neuroi onslaught? Girls equipped with the Striker Unit became known as the Witches, forming humanity's last line of defense. A new device was produced, called the Striker Unit, capable of facing Neuroi technology. To counter this seemingly unstoppable force, the world's powers united. Equipped with weapons of devastating power, a mysterious alien race, known as the Neuroi, began an invasion of the Earth, ravaging the planet, obliterating countries, and vanquishing human armies. In the year 1939, humanity was on the verge of destruction.
